Palmetto Grass Plugs
St. Augustine
Characteristics: Shade & salt tolerant--great in Florida
With high heat, humidity, and salt levels in the southeast and other coastal areas, it is often a challenge to produce lawns that are healthy, beautiful and resilient. Because of the abundance of large oak, willow, and other shade trees, finding a grass variety that thrives in sun and tolerates moderate shade is yet another problem. Palmetto St. Augustine is so versatile it overcomes these and other elements Mother Nature throws its way.
With a striking medium, emerald-green color, and a softer texture than other St. Augustine varieties, Palmetto gives good fall color retention. Come spring, you'll find Palmetto ready to green up quickly after its winter rest.
Developed in Florida, Palmetto is a favorite in coastal and island areas and is rapidly being positioned as the landscaping standard, having proved itself repeatedly since 1994. Palmetto prefers heat, but will handle cold better than other types of St. Augustine. A hardy performer in both full sun and partial shade, Palmetto offers an extremely dense root system and natural resistance to chinch bugs--qualities that allow it to fair well in drought conditions and to remain greener longer throughout the year.
Whether you're looking for a grass to blanket your yard or you need a versatile option for commercial use, Palmetto St. Augustine is a prime contender.
