Manganese Sulfate Fertilizer for Palms
Controls manganese deficiency, which causes "frizzle top" in palms. This common problem causes fronds to emerge withered or scorched in appearance, dwarfed, and distorted. If left untreated, the palm will stop growing and death will follow. Queen, Royal, Pygmy Date, Paurotic (Everglade), and Coconut palms are among the most susceptible to manganese deficiency. Manganese deficiency in plants may appear as yellowing of the leaf while the mid vein remains green.
Application rate:
- Small palms: 1/2-1 Lb. per tree
- Medium palms: 1-3 Lbs. per tree
- Large palms: 3-6 Lbs. per tree
- Large shrubs and trees: 1/4-1/2 Lb. per plant
- Landscapes: 1/3-2/3 cup per 100 square feet
The deficiency symptoms exhibited by the plant may be a sign that the pH of the soil is wrong. The desired pH so that most elements are available to the plant is 6.0 to 6.5. Alkaline soils (high pH) can easily be fixed by the addition SA-50 Soil Acidifier to the soil (see label for application rates).
